Girl Crush Country Issue #11 | 3.30.26
By Jess Wright, Creator/Host
It’s the end of Women’s History Month, but we aren’t hanging up the flag for women in country music just because the calendar flipped. At Girl Crush Country, every month is about meeting the women you need to know and calling out the industry standards that keep them off the airwaves and playlists.
This week, we’re celebrating some massive wins for our girls, a record-breaking chart run, and a deep dive with a “Cosmic Cowgirl” who is doing it all.
Featured Country Music Girl Crush: Jada Cato
Our guest this week is Jada Cato, also known as “The Cosmic Cowgirl”. Jada is a multi-hyphenate powerhouse who manages a staggering list of side hustles — from directing theater in Birmingham to coordinating intimacy for Netflix — on top of writing, recording, and performing country music.
We aren’t just talking shop, though. Jada gets real about the unique challenges Nashville presents for a queer woman of color in country music and how she navigates that space with total grace. Be prepared for some heavy truths and plenty of laughs.

The Tea: News & Chart Wins
- Ella Langley’s iHeart Win: Ella took home the Best New Artist (Country) award at the iHeart Music Awards. Even more impressive? She’s officially spent her fourth week on top of the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, dethroning Taylor Swift for the longest run by a female country singer.
- Band As One Nashville: The 2nd annual Concert for the Cure, hosted by Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire, raised a staggering $850,000 for breast cancer research.
- Dolly Parton Spotlight: In 1978, our “Matron Saint” Dolly Parton became only the second woman to win Entertainer of the Year at the ACMs. We’re keeping the history spotlights going because the feedback has been phenomenal.
