Caylee Hammack’s Awful Experience
If you don’t follow Caylee Hammack on Tik Tok, first of all, why not? But even if you do, since the algorithm seems to be weird, you may not have even seen where she talked about how she was groped in her own meet & greet line by a so-called fan. A woman, no less! Let me let her tell it.
This is horrific. While I don’t know a single woman who hasn’t been sexually assaulted in some way in her life, or talked to inappropriately, or in some way made to feel like she doesn’t get to control her own body, the horror is elevated for celebrities (including men). Fans seem to think that a person’s fame means they aren’t subject to the same rules of society as the rest of us. It’s bullshit, and it needs to stop. Just look at the comments to see how many other artists chime in with “it’s happened to me, too.” And remember the time back in 2007 when Tim McGraw had to fend off a woman at his show?
If you’re reading this, I’m sure you’re not doing things like this — because Girl Crush fans keep it cool. But if you see something, say something. Because while the person being assaulted may freeze or think they have to stay cool to protect their brand, the rest of us can feel free to cause an all out scene and make the groper feel the shame they should be feeling on their own. Am I right?
