50, 40, 30 Years of Reba
Reba McEntire has hit some big milestones lately!
First, in November, she celebrated the 50th anniversary of her first record deal. She signed with Mercury Records in 1975, when she was 20 years old.
Now, she has two more milestones to recognize this month: January 17th was the 40th anniversary of her induction into the Grand Ole Opry (and she celebrated by inducting her friend Suzy Bogguss this year), and now she’s re-released her 1995 album, Starting Over, just over 30 years after it came out the first time.
She took a bit of a walk down memory lane with Garden & Gun this month, and she said if she had to do it all over again, “I’d do the same thing I did before: I’d find the greatest songs to sing, even if I only got to sing them at a little dance hall, or at church, or wherever. The physicality of getting to sing, when you take a deep breath and that comes out of your mouth—I’m just in awe. Even on days when I can’t get it all out like I want it to sound, I’m still grateful for it.”
